Title:Chicago Businessman Fined $40,000 and Jailed for Attempted Bribery of FMCSA Inspector

Summary:Hei Yeng Kwok, owner of K&W Trading Co., a Chicago trucking company, was fined $40,000 by a U.S. District Court judge in Chicago and ordered to serve 21 months in prison for attempted bribery of a Federal safety inspector. Kwok was arrested May 13 by OIG special agents for attempting to bribe the FMCSA inspector, first with $2,000 and later with $4,000, in order to improve an unsatisfactory rating on his company’s safety compliance review. OIG investigated this case with assistance from FMCSA.
