DOT Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program Announces Phase I Awards

The SBIR program recently completed its evaluation of proposals for Phase I. The contract awards in this first of three phases provide small businesses the support to conduct research which is designed to prove that the concept they proposed could work. The focus for these efforts is developed by the US DOT’s Operating Administrations. The objectives of the first of two FY08 SBIR solicitations range from improving safety, to minimizing nvironmental impact, to reducing traffic congestion. Click here to read more about the awardees and the research that will be supported under these contracts.

The Operating Administrations, supported by the SBIR program office, research various needs and issues facing the transportation systems and generate topics/problem statements. For more information on the SBIR program, please visit their web site at: www.volpe.dot.gov/sbir.
