| Summary: | We plan to conduct a series of audits regarding the deployment of advanced security technologies since September 11, 2001. The objective of these audits is to evaluate the new Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) strategies for budgeting, purchasing, and deploying advanced security technologies used in screening passengers, checked and carry?on baggage, and cargo. During the initial audit we will (1) review TSA’s plans for meeting the December 31, 2002 deadline to screen all checked baggage using explosives detection systems or alternate screening methods; and (2) evaluate TSA’s strategies for purchasing and deploying the equipment necessary to meet the deadline. |
