Date:January 08, 2003
Type:Investigation
Summary:Emmett McGee of Dallas, TX, was ordered by a U.S. District Court judge in Dallas to pay $15,000 in restitution for making false statements regarding his fraudulent use of an FAA airman certificate. By passing himself off as an airframe-and-power-plant certificate holder, McGee tricked Air Transport International into hiring him as a mechanic for their DC–8 aircraft. He subsequently made false entries in DC–8 logbooks for the aircraft repairs he performed. McGee will also be jailed for 4 months and serve another 4 months in a halfway house. OIG investigated this case jointly with the FBI.
