Title:Defendants Plead Guilty In Van Line Case

Summary:Three employees of All American Van Lines of Pembroke Park, FL, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Miami for offering artificially low bids to customers and then significantly raising its fees upon taking possession of customers’ household goods. David Frank, manager and warehouse foreman; Caroline McGowan, office manager, and Melanie Murphy, customer service representative, each admitted guilt in a scheme in which 259 people were victimized by All American Van Lines in connection with transporting their household goods. Financial losses for the victims exceeded $1.5 million. Previously, Yaron Tishby, president of All American, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for similar charges in April 2000. OIG investigated this case with the FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
