| Summary: | Derek Randall Hicks, of Merced, CA, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Fresno, CA, to two counts of signing off on airworthiness records for Boeing-737 jets when he was not qualified to do so. He also admitted to making false statements when he used a fraudulent FAA mechanic’s license to obtain employment as a certified FAA aircraft mechanic specializing in power-plant hydraulics. Hicks performed maintenance on aircraft that carried professional sports teams, such as the Sacramento Kings basketball team and the San Jose Sharks hockey team. He was sentenced to 2 months in jail and 2 years supervised release. |
