Title:Ninth MIA Airport Worker Pleads Guilty in Security Case

Summary:Elvis Ramon Porte, an A&P mechanic at Miami International Airport (MIA), pleaded guilty and was sentenced by a U.S. District Court judge in Miami, FL, to obtaining a SIDA badge by using a false alien registration card. He is the ninth of 12 defendants charged in Miami who have pleaded guilty to charges of obtaining false SIDA badges. The badges gave the defendants access to secure areas at MIA. Porte was sentenced to three years’ probation. He was granted his U.S. citizenship following his conviction and will not be deported. OIG and USCS special agents arrested Porte on September 14 at MIA. OIG investigated this case with the U.S. Customs Service.
