Title:Florida Man Pleads Guilty in Traffic Signal Scam
Date:June 18, 2001
Type:Investigation
Summary:Johnnie C. Greene pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Miami to mail fraud charges for selling a “go-box” device that purportedly changed red traffic signals to green. Greene’s company, CFG, Inc., advertised the device over the Internet, but failed to provide the device to customers. A search of Greene’s residence turned up a “Go-Box,” but tests found it did not affect traffic signals as advertised. The case was investigated by OIG, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Miami-Dade Police Department and U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
