| Summary: | On September 26, 2007, Richard Joyce, a former Assistant Project Manager for Mass Electric Construction Company, a subcontractor to McCourt/Obayashi (MC/O)––the joint venture on the Central Artery Tunnel (CA/T) Project’s tunnel––was sentenced in U.S. District Court, Boston, Massachusetts, to 2 years probation and fined $3,000. Mr. Joyce participated in a scheme to defraud the government of an estimated $80,000 by misclassifying apprentice–level electricians as journeymen electricians on daily reports used to compile costs for time and materials change orders. The results of this investigation will be furnished to FHWA for suspension/debarment consideration. |
