TO: | Printing and Publishing Officials of the Federal Government |
SUBJECT: | Changes in the Cost to Publish in the Federal Register and the Code of Federal Regulations |
This is to inform you of a change to Circular Letter No. 412, concerning the rates to publish in the Federal Register, effective January 1, 1997. Because of the elimination of most of the pre-press work in the submission of documents which are fully coded, as input to Microcomp, and validated, we will offer a special rate which will be in effect until we are fully operational with SGML-coded documents (late 1997). At that time, the higher rate will be put into effect because of the conversions that will be required. The rates and codes are as follows:
Billing Code | Description | Page Rate | Column Rate |
---|---|---|---|
M | Manuscript | $408 | $136 |
C | Camera Copy | 408 | 136 |
D | Magnetic Tape | 378 | 126 |
U | Unformatted, ASCII | 378 | 126 |
P | Word Perfect, diskette | 378 | 126 |
W | Word Perfect from templates | 378 | 126 |
F | Fully coded and validated January 1, 1997 | 288 | 96 |
When SGML implemented | 333 | 111 | |
S | SGML-coded and validated | 267 | 89 |
The conversion to SGML is expected to result in standardized input to GPO's publishing systems, thus permitting programmatic generation of documents via (1) conventional print products, (2) demand-print products, (3) online products, and (4) CD-ROM products, which employ the same user interface to effect enhanced contextual searches whether disseminated online or via CD-ROM media. If you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact your GPO Account Representative.
Sincerely,
ROBERT G. COX
Superintendent,
Departmental Account Representative Division
