SUBJECT: Rider Requisitions for the Budget of the United States Government, Fiscal Year 1999, the 1998 Economic Report of the President, and CD-ROM for both.

Economic Report of the President is scheduled for release in early February 1998. It will contain the Economic Report of the President, together with the Annual Report of the Council of Economic Advisers and the Statistical Appendix. (Also available on CD-ROM under another title with budget publications, see below.)

Budget of the United States Government, Fiscal Year 1999 contains the Budget Message of the President and an overview of the President's budget proposals. It also includes a discussion of Federal programs by function, the Government-wide performance plan, and various summary tables.

Budget of the United States Government, Fiscal Year 1999 - Appendix presents detailed information on the various appropriations and funds that constitute the budget. It includes for each Government department and agency the text of proposed appropriations language, budget schedules for each account, new legislative proposals, explanations of the work to be performed and the funds needed, and proposed general provisions applicable to the appropriations of entire agencies or groups of agencies.

Analytical Perspectives, Fiscal Year 1999 contains analyses that are designed to highlight specific program areas or provide other significant presentations of budget data that place the budget in perspective.

Historical Tables, Budget of the United States Government, Fiscal Year 1999 provides data on budget receipts, outlays, surpluses or deficits, and Federal debt over a time period extending from FY 1940 to FY 2001. To the extent feasible, the data has been adjusted to provide consistency with the FY 1999 Budget and to provide comparability over time.

A Citizen's Guide to the Federal Budget is an overview of the President's budget proposal. It also includes explanations of spending programs and estimated receipts and contains a description of the budget system and various summary tables on the budget as a whole. The Budget Systems and Concepts, Fiscal Year 1999 explains the system and concepts used to formulate the President's budget proposal. This is a separate printing of a chapter in Analytical Perspectives.

CD-ROM: Budget of the United States Government, Fiscal Year 1999 and 1998 Economic Report of the President - There will be a single release on CD-ROM of the budget publications listed above, supporting budget documents, and the Economic Report of the President. The CD-ROM will be available at the time the Economic Report of the President is released. It will include a combination of ASCII text, Lotus spreadsheets, and Adobe Acrobat files suitable for full-text search.

The planned release for the FY 1999 Budget is early February 1998. The number of pages will not be known until the last moment and the actual rider rate is impossible to forecast. However, the approximate costs shown should be sufficient for budgeting purposes. Rider requisitions WILL NOT be accepted after January 16, 1998. Please specify paper or casebound copies. If not specified, paper copies will be furnished. Requests for advance copies cannot be honored.

NOTE: Field or regional activities should coordinate their requirements with their Washington, DC, area headquarters' printing officers before submitting any paperwork.
