Does a link to the VOA exist from the MARAD Intranet web site?
At present, there is not a direct link from the MARAD Intranet site. However, there are indirect links to VOA. Click on MARAD and then MARAD Internet. VOA can then be reached via the link Doing Business with MARAD. Another means is to click on MARAD and then Headquarters. VOA can then be reached via the MAR380 link. |

I would like to know the disposition of the former Grace Line vessels SS SANTA ROSA, SS SANTA MERCEDES and SS SANTA PAULA. I sailed on these vessels as a passenger when I was a child. THANKS..........
SANTA MERCEDES became PATRIOT STATE and served as the MASS Maritime Academy training ship until 1999 when she was returned to the James River Reserve Fleet. She is still in the JRRF being held as a static training platform for the Marines.
SANTA ROSA became AMERICAN BUILDER and ultimately the active RRF Crane ship EQUALITY STATE. She is still active and currently homeported in Houston, TX.
SANTA PAULA became AMERICAN BANKER and has been in the JRRF since 1987. She is under contract for disposal, however, and will be imminently departing the JRRF for the scrapping facility.

Technical Compliance Plans should be accepted in FY05 acquisitions. Solicitation instructions and requirements will be posted on the VOA and FEDBIZOPPS in the near future. |

The MARAD Ship Disposal Office as well as the Office of Environmental Activities perform site visits on vendors who present a viable Technical Compliance Plan during the solicitation phase of an acquisition. MARAD personnel normally perform site visits only after evaluation of previously submitted technical information. |
