From Washington, D.C., Capital Beltway (I-495) ...

From the north side of the Capital Beltway (I-495), take exit 25 onto Rte. 1 north (Baltimore Ave.) toward Laurel. Drive 0.5 miles, and turn left at the light onto South Drive to enter the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (it resembles a university campus). Immediately bear right onto Circle Drive, and continue to the last (northern most) building (005). Visitor parking is available in the parking lot behind the building. The main AIPL office is in room 306 on the 3rd floor.

From Baltimore-Washington International Airport ...

By car: Take exit road from airport (look for the signs to Washington) onto I-195 west. Exit onto I-295 south (Baltimore-Washington Parkway--toward Washington). Exit at Rte. 212 (Powder Mill Rd.--toward Beltsville). At exit ramp, turn right (west). Proceed through the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center's farm. At 2nd traffic light, turn left onto Rte. 1 south. Proceed 0.8 miles to the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center on the right, and turn right onto Circle Dr. (just before the light for Sunnyside Ave. to the left). Bear left when the road divides, and AIPL is located in Bldg. 005, the first (northern most) building on the right. Visitor parking is available in the parking lot behind the building. The main AIPL office is in room 306 on the 3rd floor.

Public transportation: An alternative is to take a shuttle available at "Ground Transportation" in the baggage claim area. Some shuttles require reservations, and prices range from $21 to $32 per person. Prices are cheaper for multiple occupants.

From Reagan National Airport ...

By car: Exit the airport via the ramp towards Washington (I-395). Merge onto the George Washington Memorial Parkway/GW Pkwy. north. Take I-495 (Capital Beltway) north toward Maryland. Take exit 25, Rte.

Public transportation: People arriving at Reagan National Airport can take the Metro train to the Greenbelt station. Metro tickets cost about $3 one way. From the airport, take the yellow line to L'Enfant Plaza. Change to the green line at L'Enfant Plaza. Exit the green line at Greenbelt station. A USDA Shuttle can take you from the Greenbelt station to Building 003; AIPL is located in Bldg. 005. Non-USDA visitors can ride the shuttle if they state who they're visiting at USDA. The USDA shuttle departs from the Greenbelt station in 20-minute intervals, 6:00 a.m. to 6:10 p.m., Monday - Friday. If you're going directly to your hotel, some of the hotels nearby have courtesy vans that pick up from the Greenbelt station.
