SABIT Participant Promotes
U.S. IT Equipment in Azerbaijan
An alumna from the SABIT Technology
Commercialization: IT program
in 2002 reports that partnerships
with a number of leading U.S.
information technology providers
has resulted in over $7 million
in combined sales for 2003, and
the first four months of 2004
calendar year. The participant,
Yuriy Fominov, works for the R.I.S.K.
Company in Baku that has established
relationships with companies such
as IBM, Cisco Systems, and Dell.
They are also a Microsoft Gold
Certified Partner.
Azeri Oil Company Adopts
International Standards as a Result
of SABIT Training
Ilgar Taghiev, chief accountant
of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan
Republic (SOCAR), used knowledge
gained from his SABIT training
on the Oil & Gas Executive
Management program to help complete
the implementation of GAAP standards
in his company. Taghiev completed
the implementation in conjunction
with his colleague, Rafiq Aliyev,
who also participated in the same
SABIT training session earlier
this year.
Armenian Association
for Businesswomen Started by SABIT
Alumna
In May 2002, Ms. Lilit Avetisyan
founded the organization "Women's
Forum" in Yerevan.
This association promotes the
creation of associations for businesswomen
and lobbying for the interests
of these same businesswomen. Women's
Forum has 35 members in Yerevan,
and provides training and seminars
on topics like business ethics,
marketing, and management skills.
The forum is also a member of
the anti-corruption coalition
of Armenia. Ms. Avetisyan participated
in SABIT’s Association Development
program in 2001.
