Sellout Crowd to attend BXA'S Update '97; CWC, Encryption and "Back-to-Basics" Highlight Sessions

WASHINGTON, DC -- More than 700 exporters plan to attend the Commerce Department's Bureau of Export Administration (BXA) Update 97, scheduled for July 8 and 9 at the J.W. Marriott conference center in Washington, DC.

This year's Update sessions cover a wide range of current issues of interest to exporters, including encryption controls and requirements under the Chemical Weapons Convention, as well as a back-to-basics workshop for people who are new to the fast-growing export community. In addition, representatives from the Non-Proliferation Center will hold a special session to help exporters evaluate international customers and detect illegal diversion tactics.

Press credentials will be required to cover any of the sessions. Please contact the BXA press office at (202) 482-2721 for schedule information and to obtain credentials.

Note

In April of 2002 the Bureau of Export Administration (BXA) changed its name to the Bureau of Industry and Security(BIS). For historical purposes we have not changed the references to BXA in the legacy documents found in the Archived Press and Public Information.
