SABIT Alumna in Kazakhstan
Sells U.S. Agricultural Products
to Kazakh Farmers
Hisa Akhmatov, a SABIT Grant
Participant in 2003, sold $90,500
worth of American bovine genetic
products to Kazakh cattle farmers
after his return from a SABIT
internship with Taurus Service
of Pennsylvania. Mr. Akhmatov
used his internship to learn more
about the products offered to
farmers by his hosts, which in
turn allowed him to more effectively
market and sell their products
in Kazakhstan.
SABIT Participant Appointed
Deputy Minister of Transportation
in Kazakhstan
Talgat Abylgazin, from the SABIT
Oil Terminals program in 2003,
was appointed Deputy Minister
of Transportation in Kazakhstan.
As the Deputy Minister, he will
be supervising the construction
of three new sea ports on the
Kazakh shore of the Caspian Sea.
Mr. Abylgazin anticipates a high
demand for U.S. equipment, management
and consulting services.
Kazakh SABIT Intern Sells
American Automobiles in Kazakhstan
A past participant in SABIT’s
grant program has sold $410,000
of American automobiles in Almaty
in 2002. Tatyana Usatova, who
was hosted by SAITCO, a Virginia
automotive retailer, established
a business relationship with SAITCO
while in the United States with
SABIT.
SABIT Alumna Joins WTO
Committee in Tajikistan
Mr. Behzod Faizullaev, a participant
in SABIT’s Technology Commercialization:
Telecommunications/IT program
in 2002, became a member of the
WTO Ascension Committee in Tajikistan
as part of a trade and development
project coordinated by Pragma,
a USAID contractor.
