A team consisting of a company official, a mine inspector, state or federal or both, and a representative of the miners will randomly visit different areas of the mine. They will approach a miner and ask him what he has done for safety today? If he can give an acceptable answer, he is thanked and given a hard hat sticker with an appropriate safety message like "I worked safely today".
