Internet Explorer     Netscape   Excel   Quattro Pro

This table has been created specifically for you. A few seconds after you click on "Download File" your browser should ask you if you want to open the file or save it, do not open it. Select save file and enter an appropriate file name. Use the .CSV extension to enable automatic handling of the file in your spreadsheet.

If you get a screen full of text instead of the File Download popup, you will have to save the file manually. That process is as follows:

Internet Explorer (IE) Use if File Download Popup does not appear.

1. Click on "Download File". This will create a page with just text on it.

2. From the Internet Explorer "File" menu select "Save as"

3. A popup menu will appear. Near the bottom of the menu there are three drop down boxes labeled "File Name", "Save as type" and "Encoding". Change the "Save as type" to "Text file(*.txt)".

4. In the selection window on the top select the directory where you want to save the file.

5. In the "File Name" drop down type the name you want to use to save the file. Use an extension of .csv. Your file name will look like MyFile.csv.

6. Click on the "Save" button.

7. The file will be saved as a quoted, comma delimited file.

Opening the file in a spread sheet

The whole idea of a CSV file is to save the data in a format which can be read by a spreadsheet. The directions for Excel and Quattro Pro follow. These directions work for a typical setup. If yours is not a typical setup or if you use another spreadsheet you may have to experiment some to find the best method. When you get it right the titles, row and column headings and data will all be in separate cells just as you would expect.

Excel

If you saved the file with a .csv extension you may be able to double click on the file and it will open in Excel. If that doesn't work, Open Excel and do the following:

1. Select Open from the file menu.

2. In the bottom of the Popup there is a dropdown window labeled "Files of type:"

3. Select "Text files(*.prn,*.txt,*.csv)"

4. Then select the file you saved above.

Quattro Pro

Quattro Pro is very sensitive to the format of the csv file. There are several ways to open a csv file in Quattro. The following is not the easiest but it generally succeeds in opening the file correctly.

1. Open Quattro

2. Put the cursor in the upper left hand cell A1.

3. Select the "Insert" menu

4. Select "File.." from the menu

5. Either type in the path and file name or navigate to the file.

6. Select OK

7. The "Quick Columns Expert" will come up.

8. Select "Options"

9. In the options screen set Data Type to "Delimited" and check "Comma Quote" under "Delimited"

10. Click "OK"

11. Click "Parse"

12. The data is now in the spread sheet.
