Data in Excel or Text format
Residential Housing Pattern indexes can be obtained for metropolitan areas (as defined on Jine 30, 1999 and June 6, 2003), micropolitan areas, and places for various years and racial/ethnic groups. View the data by creating tables, or downloading files in Excel or Text format.
- Data for metropolitan areas (as defined on June 30, 1999) are available for 1980, 1990, and 2000.
- Data for metropolitan and micropolitan areas (as defined on June 6, 2003) are available for 2000 only
- Data for places are available for 2000 only
The 1980 and 1990 metropolitan area segregation indexes were recalculated in 2002 to reflect MSA boundaries in effect during Census 2000 and therefore may not be the same as previously released. While every effort has been made to check these new calculations, they are complex and may need to be revised in the future.
