How to Download the Self-Study Template

Bring the Self-Study template up in your web browser from http://www.access.gpo.gov/su_docs/fdlp/pubs/fdlm/selfstud.html

Move the cursor to the "File" menu in the upper left corner of the browser and click.

Move the cursor (or use the down arrow key) to "Save As" and click.

A box will pop up and prompt you to define a location for the file you are going to save. To place the file on a floppy disk, "Save in" 3 1/2 Floppy (A:). This same box will prompt you to define the file format. The default is HTML. Change this to "Plain Text" or "Text File"(*.txt)."

Having saved the self-study template in a plain text format, you will be able to pull the file into any word processor and use some of the suggested style and formatting hints for writing the self-study. Just a cautionary note, if you make stylistic changes, save your self-study in the file format your word processor uses. If you save it in plain text format at this point any enhancements to the text will be lost.
