Pesticides subtopics Alphabetical List of All Topics

Pesticide registration is the process through which EPA examines the following: the ingredients of a pesticide; the site or crop on which it is to be used; the amount, frequency and timing of its use; and its storage and disposal practices. EPA evaluates pesticides to ensure that they will not have any adverse effects on humans, the environment and non-target species. A pesticide cannot be legally used if it has not been registered with the Office of Pesticide Programs. EPA assists pesticide manufacturers and users by publishing regulations and registration guidance documents. The Agency also makes its pesticide information available to the public through its Pesticide Product Information System.
