Figure 13 is a line drawing elevation of a cane-detectable sidewalk environment, illustrating the
cane detectable range as a shaded area from ground level to 27 inches and a protected zone
dimensioned above it to a height of 80 inches from the ground. Projections of 4 inches maximum
from walls are illustrated and post mounted items, like signs, are recommended to extend no more
than 4 inches into the width of the sidewalk, although it is noted than 12 inches is permitted. |
