Starting with the 2004 data year, CBP data is available in American FactFinder. American FactFinder provides data users with tools to filter the CBP data set by the same data groupings shown in the CBP publications. The complete CBP data file is also available for free downloading; prior to 2004, the complete CBP data file was only available by purchasing a data disk. Given that complete CBP data is now available through American FactFinder; the Census Bureau is no longer producing CBP data disks or publications. Please see the background information regarding these two products below.
Complete CBP data files on CD-ROM/DVD are available for purchase for the years 1986-2004. There are two years of data on each disk; for more information and details for purchasing these data disks, see the Order CD-ROM link on the CBP Homepage.
1998 is the last year that printed copies of the CBP publications were published. However, CBP publication data are available in portable document format (PDF) through 2004. See the View in pdf format link on the

The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) groups establishments into industries based on the activities in which they are primarily engaged. The CBP program has tabulated on a NAICS basis since 1998. The NAICS codes were updated in 2002; starting with the 2003 CBP series, the data are tabulated using the 2002 NAICS system.
In the 1998 - 2002 CBP reports, corporate, subsidiary, and regional managing offices were tabulated in NAICS Sector 55. All other auxiliaries were tabulated in NAICS 95. Starting with the 2003 CBP, corporate, subsidiary, and regional managing offices are still published in NAICS Sector 55, but the other auxiliaries are tabulated in the industry of the service performed.
