Statistical SafeguardsThe Census Bureau uses statistical methods to ensure that the statistics we release do not identify individuals or businesses. These methods include extensive review and analysis of all our data products, as well as disclosure avoidance methodologies (such as data suppression and modification) to screen out data that might identify a specific individual or business. For more information on how the Census Bureau protects the confidentiality of data, please see American FactFinder's confidentiality page. Disclosure Review BoardTo ensure that these measures are implemented, the Census Bureau has an internal Disclosure Review Board. This board sets the confidentiality rules for all data product releases. A checklist approach is used to ensure that potential risks to the confidentiality of the data are considered and addressed before any data are released. |
