Survey Sample Design
A multistage design with Section 330 grantees as the first-stage sampling units. The sampling frame for the first-stage sample consisted of Section 330 grantees from the 1999 Uniform Data System (UDS) maintained by the Bureau of Primary Health Care of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA/BPHC). The sampling frame was first stratified by the four census regions (Northeast, Midwest, South, and West) and the BPHC designation of urban/rural grantees.
Primary Survey Content
Sociodemographic characteristics including income and insurance status, reasons for seeking care, health care service utilization, health conditions, health and functional status, and access to care.
Population Targeted
Eligible users of CHCs that received Section 330 grants during 1999.
Demographic Data
Age, race, ethnicity, region, occupation, foreign born, education, income, insurance, marital status, usual source of care.
Years Collected
1995 and 2002.
Geographic Estimates
National. The CHC data also can be shown for the four Census regions (Northeast, Midwest, South, and West in the continental United States.
