Create a new directory on your hard disk, and make this the current directory. Putting this new directory under a main \EXTRACT directory may help you remember what these files are for. (Do not use a directory in use for other auxiliary files.) C: CD \EXTRACT MD IMP98 2. Uncompress the files onto your hard disk, assuming the source is your A: drive-- a:\FTDIMP98 C:\EXTRACT\IMP98 -n The FTDIMP98.EXE file is a "self-extracting" archive that contain catalog, data dictionary and other auxiliary files which EXTRACT needs in order to select data correctly from certain monthly imports discs. 3. Copy a batch file to your default directory. COPY C:\EXTRACT\IMP9798\EXIMP98.BAT If your CD-ROM drive is anything other than D:, edit the file to change the D: on the second line to the appropriate designation. **************************************************************************** ** Starting EXTRACT to work with the 1997 Imports History disc ** 1. Make the directory with EXTRACT.EXE in it the current directory: CD \EXTRACT 2. Start the program with the batch file copied earlier.
