AHRQ Announces the Building Research Infrastructure and Capacity (BRIC) Program

New Information from AHRQ: February 27, 2001

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) today announced the Building Research Infrastructure and Capacity (BRIC) Program, a peer-reviewed grant program intended to broaden geographic distribution of health services research funding by enhancing the competitiveness for research funding among institutions located in states where successful applications to the AHRQ have been historically low. The BRIC Program will increase the probability of long-term growth of AHRQ-competitive funding to investigators at institutions in BRIC-eligible states. AHRQ expects to award up to $1 million in fiscal year FY 2001 to support the total first year costs of approximately three to six grants under this Request for Application (RFA).

BRIC-eligible states include the following states, plus the Commonwealths of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands: Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, and Wyoming.

Letters of intent are due April 1, 2001; applications are due April 24, 2001. For additional information on this RFA, go to the February 23, 2001, NIH Guide at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-HS-01-001.html.
