Encryption Controls

This program is an in-depth session that will focus on the unique provisions related to encryption under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Bureau of Industry & Security (BIS) encryption specialists will cover a variety of topics, including how items with encryption functionality are classified under the EAR; how the provision for >64-bit "mass market" encryption may apply to products that you use, sell or buy; license exception provisions for encryption source code (open source and proprietary); license exception provisions for U.S. subsidiaries and certain eligible countries" and for U.S.-origin encryption parts and components incorporated into foreign products; encryption review and reporting requirements; Encryption Licensing Arrangements; conditions placed on encryption licenses, and other encryption technology issues. Presenters will be available for Q&A the afternoon of the program to address specific questions of attendees. Required prerequisite: Essentials of Export Controls or Complying with U.S. Export Controls or equivalent experience.

About the Instructors


The instructors are experienced export policy specialists and engineers from BIS's Washington, D.C. headquarters as well as representatives from other U.S. government agencies. The instructors will be available throughout the seminar to answer your questions on how the export regulations affect the export activities of your organization or client.


Location/time


The program will be held at the The Wyndham Jacksonville Riverfront, 1515 Prudential Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32207. Registration and continental breakfast will begin at 7:30am. The program will begin at 8:30am and end at 4:00pm on both days. 

Accommodations


A special conference rate of $89 (plus tax) for a single/double room has been arranged with the The Wyndham Jacksonville Riverfront, 1515 Prudential Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32207.  The special rate is available until November 1, 2008. Mention "U.S. Commercial Service" to receive the special conference rate.  Overnight guests $10 per day, self-parking (secured), daily parking is $5.00.


Registration


The registration fee for the Encryption Controls is $125.00 per person. ($440.00 per person, if you are also attending Complying with U.S. Export Controls on December 2-3) The fee includes continental breakfasts, coffee breaks, lunches and materials.  The registration fee is not refundable after November 28, 2008.   Substitutions may be made at any time.  For information regarding registration, please contact Jorge Arce at (904) 232-1270 or by email.
