The Rim Rock Drive Project begins near the West Entrance Gate to Colorado National Monument in Fruita, Colorado. It continues 29.8 km (18.5 miles) and ends at the intersection of Rim Rock Drive and East Glade Road. Approximately 18.4 km (11.4 miles) of asphalt have been pulverized and 12.4 km (7.7 miles) have at least one lift of new asphalt pavement. The finished roadway will be 6.7 meters (22 ft) wide with 3 meter (10 ft) lanes and 300 mm (1 ft) shoulders. The asphalt will be 75 mm (3 in) thick with 125 mm (5 in) of pulverized asphalt underneath.
A construction contract was awarded to Kiewit Western Co. on February 28, 2006 for the contract amount of $8,334,605.00.

Traffic Delays
There are three wall locations that are reduced to one lane. These locations are located 2.8 km (1.7 miles), 8.5 km (5.3 miles), and 11.1 km (6.9 miles) from the West Entrance Gate. Please be prepared to stop and proceed when clear.
Traffic Delays are minimal at most times, with the maximum wait of 20 minutes.
