U.S. Census Bureau
Link to Census 2000 Gateway Elected Officials

How America Knows What America Needs was established during Census 2000 to keep elected officials aware of census outreach efforts. As the Census Bureau moves to the data dissemination phase of Census 2000, it is our hope that through this site we can keep you abreast of the latest developments at the Census Bureau and help you find the data that you need. We also want to make you aware of the full range of Census Bureau programs and activities – not just the decennial census.

We will alert you to new data releases and keep you apprised of new programs such as The American Community Survey. Thus, we are posting information on the State Data Centers and Census Information Centers – networks of local organizations that help disseminate census data. We also are listing the governor's liaison for your state as another contact for information.

Special site for elected officials
