Key demographic data for 249 race and Hispanic origin groups!

Availability: Census 2000 Summary File 2 is available in several different file formats and media types. The software version contains retrieval software allowing users to manipulate, display, and download data from the file. The files also come in an ASCII version and are also available online in the American FactFinder or in ASCII format through FTP.

Software Version:

1) U.S. Summary. V1-D00-S1S2-08-US1 --- THIS PRODUCT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO ORDER. DVD containing complete SF 2 file. Users can plot radius analysis (e.g., population within a one-mile radius of node). Geography: states, counties, county subdivisions, places, census tracts, and state parts of American Indian and Alaska Native Areas, metropolitan areas, and Hawaiian Home Lands.

2) State Files. CD-ROMs containing complete SF 2 data for individual states each on one disc, with access software. Same geographical areas as on the software version of the U.S. Summary (see above).

3) National File. One DVD containing SF 2 data for larger geographic areas, with access software (V1-D00-S2ST-08-NAT1).

Geography: United States, regions, divisions, states, counties, county subdivisions, places, metropolitan statistical areas, urban (urbanized areas and urban clusters) and rural areas, American Indian and Alaska Native Areas, and Hawaiian Home Lands.

ASCII Version:

1) U.S. Summary. DVD set containing complete SF 2 file (V1-D00-S1S2-06-US1) in compressed ASCII format. Users must unzip files and download them into data base application. We recommend users consult the Read Me file for this product. ASCII version not available on CD-ROM. Same geographical areas as on the software version of the U.S. Summary.

Subject content: Summary File 2 contains population and housing data based on Census 2000 questions asked on the short form of everyone. SF 2 contains 47 tables: 36 population tables and 11 housing tables. What makes SF 2 special is that tables are repeated for up to 249 race and Hispanic origin groups, provided there are 100 or more people in the group for a particular area. Population items age, sex, race, Hispanic origin, and household type and relationship. Housing tenure is also included. Technical documentation has a complete list of tables.
