Press Release:
Todd Sedmak Named a NTIA Communications Director

For Immediate Release:  Feb. 6, 2007
Contact: Ranjit DeSilva, (202) 482-7002

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Todd Sedmak, formerly the public affairs director at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, was named Communications Director at Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).

“Todd brings more than 15 years of experience working with national and local media so his background and creativity will be helpful in communicating NTIA’s programs and policies,” said Commerce Department Assistant Secretary John Kneuer.

Sedmak will help promote President Bush’s initiative on a new Spectrum Policy for the 21st Century, the transition from analog-to-digital television, public safety interoperability communication, broadband policy, and Internet governance.

Prior to FERC, Sedmak was the media relations director for American University from 1992-2005, and was a legislative aide to U.S. Senator Don Nickles from 1991 to 1992 working on business, tax, agriculture, energy, environment and social issues.

He graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s in journalism in 1989 and with a master’s in public communication from American University in 1996.  He and his family reside in Falls Church, Va.

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration is the President's principal adviser on telecommunications and information policy issues.
