Process > Application Criteria
Any U.S. profit or non-profit
firm or institution, regardless
of size, may apply. All industries
are considered. However, participating
U.S. firms should demonstrate
a commitment to the intent and
goals of the program and must:
|
Provide the
intern with hands-on, non-academic,
executive training designed
to maximize their exposure
to business and management
skills or commercially-oriented
scientific operations necessary
to operate in a market economy.
|
|
Designate an internship
coordinator to help the
intern adjust to the United
States. The coordinator
ensures that suitable housing,
which may consist of a home-stay,
is located prior to arrival.
|
|
Provide the intern with
visa support, medical insurance,
housing, and other living
and travel expenses. The
host organization must initially
pay for the round-trip international
airfare, daily stipend,
and housing costs. These
costs will be reimbursed
in full to the host by the
U.S. Department of Commerce
at the end of the training.
|
Successful applications
will provide a specific, results-oriented
training objectives statement,
which should be supported by a
detailed, week-by-week work plan
description.
