CW-3 is a monitoring site where water level and barometric pressure are monitored using a pressure transducer and barometer, respectively. These data are recorded on a datalogger every 30 minutes, and the data are transmitted via satellite to NWIS, our national database. This well was originally drilled in 1985 for geothermal energy production. Since 1991, well CW-3 has been used to monitor pressure changes in the thermal aquifer that could result from pumping geothermal fluid for power production at Casa Diablo and to quantify areal strain resulting from crustal unrest. | |
