Statement by Assistant Secretary William G. Sutton on Interagency Manufacturing Report

Washington - Commerce Assistant Secretary for Manufacturing and Services William G. Sutton issued the following statement on the recently released report, Manufacturing the Future: Federal Priorities for Manufacturing R&D. The report is available online at www.manufacturing.gov.

“I want to commend our partners and colleagues on the Interagency Working Group (IWG) on Manufacturing Research and Development as well as the White House’s National Science and Technology Council Committee on Technology.

“The IWG’s report provides a roadmap for addressing significant challenges facing U.S. manufacturers. The key areas addressed in the report – hydrogen energy technologies, nanomanufacturing, and intelligent and integrated manufacturing – are all vital to the future of American manufacturing.

“Enhancing the competitiveness of these critical areas will help our manufacturers maintain an advantage in the global economy and enable U.S companies to lead the world in innovation, productivity and R&D.”
