Geographic Area Description
Census divisions are groupings
of states that are subdivisions of the four census regions. (See also
Census Region.) There are nine census
divisions, which the U.S. Census Bureau adopted in 1910 for the presentation
of data. Each census division is identified by a one-digit census code.
Puerto Rico and the Island
Areas are not part of any census region or census division.
