Data Tools for Wildfire-Impacted Areas in Northern CaliforniaJuly 2, 2008 – As firefighters in California continue to battle wildfires, the Census Bureau provides data and map products to show the potential impact on the local economy and labor force. The products provide three seven-day moving pictures of the people working in the impacted areas and of the workers who live there. The three periods end June 25, 27, and 30.
The data are from the Census Bureau’s “OnTheMap” tool. The tool and information about downloading the data that support it are available at http://lehd.did.census.gov. Wildfire locations are based on data from the USDA Forest Service. Southern California WildfiresOctober 26, 2007 — Census Bureau data show the potential impact of the California Wildfires on the workforce in the immediate fire zone areas and also show the characteristics of the seven counties declared disaster areas.
