Location of Manufacturing and Location of Mining

Location of Manufacturing presents counts of establishments by employment-size class by detailed NAICS for the U.S., states, counties, and places.

The statistics shown for each industry-area combination are the counts of establishments in several employment-size categories: establishments with 1 to 19 employees, 20 to 49, 50 to 99, 100 to 249, 250 to 499, 500 to 999, and 1,000 employees or more. These establishment counts by size class are not considered to be a disclosure of confidential information, so a data line is present for every 6-digit industry with one or more establishments within an area. Thus, Location of Manufacturing is a useful complement to the manufacturing Geographic Area Series, where no data are shown for industries or industry groups with fewer than 450 employees in a county or city.

Location of Mining is structured similarly, except that data are provided only for the U.S. and states.
