Council Description
The Keith County Citizen Corps Council originated from the citizen response to local flash flooding in 2002. Representatives of various community organizations met with national and international relief organizations to coordinate disaster recovery and response. Local citizens were involved with volunteer coordination, sheltering, feeding, counseling, and providing direct assistance to affected families. The resulting group of citizen responders determined to establish a local council to prepare for future emergencies.
