CLEANmp-West

The CLEANmp Program is designed to provide services to ALL types and sizes of livestock and poultry production operations.  It does not matter if an operation has or needs a state or federal permit; this program is not regulatory.  Any producer who would like an independent environmental assessment and/or a nutrient management plan, at no cost, is welcome to apply for these services.

 

The nutrient management plan that will be developed under the CLEANmp-West Program contains all the components of a NRCS CNMP and EPA NMP.  This all inclusive approach to developing a nutrient management plan was implemented to produce a product that would have the greatest possible value to a producer.

 

Welcome and Website Guidance

Welcome to the CLEANmp-West Homepage.  To access program information you will need to use the TABS that appear across the top of the website.  Until you register you will only see the "HOME," "ABOUT US," CONTACT US" and the "NEWS" TABS.  Once you register as either a service provider or a producer, additional information will be accessible.

In addition to the TABS across the top of the website you will notice additional TABS along the right edge of each website page.  These TABS can be used to access more program-specific information.

Online Registration and Project Application

The online registration functionality for this program is now functional.  Producers do not need to submit an applicaiton online; once they are registered they can download an application and submit a completed application to SES, Inc. by fax or mail.  The project application can be found on the Producer webpage.  Contact information for SES, inc. can be found under the "Contact Us" tab at the top of the website.

Service Providers can begin the approval process online or complete it manually.  The associated Service Provider documents can be found on the Service Provider webpages.

Comprehensive Livestock Environmental Assessments and Nutrient management plans –WEST (CLEANmp)

With more than a million livestock farms in the United States, figuring out what to do with the animal manure has always been a challenge for operators.  The CLEANmp Program provides livestock and poultry producers the opportunity to have trained professionals conduct Environmental Assessments of their operation, develop or revise Nutrient Management Plans (NMP) for their operation or implement both types of projects at their operation.  Both types of project will help a producer reduce potential manure runoff and subsequent impacts on sensitive watersheds around their operation.  All work conducted for a producer, under this program, is confidential and free.  Livestock and poultry operators across the nation are eligible to apply.

The Environmental Resources Coalition (ERC) is using federal grant dollars, from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), to provide livestock and poultry producers west of the Mississippi River NMPs and EAs.  ERC is a non-profit group dedicated to water quality protection and improvement efforts.  RTI International, a research institute in North Carolina, will use its portion of the EPA grant to work with farmers in the eastern half of the nation.
