Related Party Trade Database Application: Help

Table of contents:

Description

RELATED PARTY trade data is published as imports and exports.

  • IMPORTS
    • Related-party trade includes import transactions between parties with various types of relationships including "any person directly or indirectly, owning, controlling or holding power to vote, 6 percent of the outstanding voting stock or shares of any organization."

  • EXPORTS
    • A related-party export transaction is one between a U.S. exporter and a foreign consignee, where either party owns, directly or indirectly, 10 percent or more of the other party.

"Please select data you would like in your request"

NAICS Codes

Select multiple NAICS codes from this menu. They are listed in numeric order. The greater the number of digits in the code, the more detail that's available.

The top menu items start with the word "ALL" (e.g. "ALL NAICS2", "ALL NAICS3", etc.). These will pull every single code in that digit group. For example, if you select "ALL NAICS2", the report will include every single 2-digit NAICS code.

Limitations:

  • The system will not pull data for specific NAICS codes and a NAICS group simultaneously. So, you can pull data for "111 Agricultural Products" or "All NAICS 3", but you can't pull them both at the same time.

  • The system will not pull data for multiple NAICS groups simultaneously. So, you can select "All NAICS 3" for one request. You can select "All NAICS 2" for a different request. You can not select "All NAICS 3" and "All NAICS 2" at the same time.

  • The system will only pull data for "ALL COUNTRIES" and a NAICS group at the same time if you only display NAICS or COUNTRY. It will not work if you want to display NAICS and COUNTRY simultaneously.

Years

Select multiple years from this menu. This application provides annual data only.

Countries

Select multiple countries from this menu. They are listed in alphabetic order.

The "ALL Countries" group at the top of the menu will provide all available countries for your request. There is no need to select additional countries.

Limitations:

  • The system will not pull data for "ALL COUNTRIES" and a specific country simultaneously.

  • The system will only pull data for "ALL COUNTRIES" and a NAICS group at the same time if you only display NAICS or COUNTRY. It will not work if you want to display NAICS and COUNTRY simultaneously.

Variables

The following variables are available to display in your report:

  • Imports
    • Total Trade: Total value of all imports for consumption
    • Related Trade: Trade with an entity located outside the United States in which the importer holds at least a 6% equity interest.
    • Non-Related Trade: Trade between parties, whether importers or exporters that have no affiliation with each other or who do not meet the relevant equity requirements.
    • Not Reported Trade: Trade that has not been explicitly identified either related or non-related trade.

  • Exports
    • Total Trade: Total value of all domestic exports
    • Related Trade: Trade with an entity located outside the United States in which the exporter holds at least a 10% equity interest.
    • Non-Related Trade: Trade between parties, whether importers or exporters that have no affiliation with each other or who do not meet the relevant equity requirements.
    • Not Reported Trade: Trade that has not been explicitly identified either related or non-related trade.
