These
four new policy guidance documents will clarify
important issues pertaining to minimal rehabilitation, performing
risk assessments and lead inspections prior to Release of Funds, work
that may be completed during Close-out, and providing lead grant assistance
to properties subject to enforcement actions.
HUD
Announces $131 Million in Grants to Protect Thousands of Children
from Dangerous Lead and Other Home Hazards
The
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development today awarded
more than $131 million in grants to 61 local projects to conduct
a wide range of activities, from eliminating lead hazards in homes
to increasing public awareness about childhood lead poisoning. Lead
is a known toxin that can impair children's development and may even
cause death at high levels.

PIH Guidance on Lead-Safe Housing Rule and Lead Disclosure Rule
for Field Office Staff and Public Housing Agencies
The
Office of Public and Indian Housing updated its lead regulatory
guidance to field staff by issuing guidance describing how lead
safety is addressed in all of its programs, and by issuing a lead
compliance toolkit for the Housing Choice Voucher Program. Both
documents are on a single PIH

Healthy
Homes for Healthy Kids
HUD is conducting the "Healthy Homes for Healthy Kids" campaign,
a three-year, 30-city outreach effort to inform parents about health
and safety hazards in the home. This can include lead paint, mold,
moisture, and pests like mice and cockroaches. For more information
