Subject Reports: Establishment and Firm Size

Establishment and Firm Size (including Legal Form of Organization)) reports for sectors other than manufacturing, mining and construction present data on the number of establishments, sales, payroll, and employment, cross-tabulated by kind of business by size of establishment, by size of firm, and by legal form of organization, for the United States. Establishment data are presented by sales size and employment size; data for firms, by sales size (including concentration by largest firms), by employment size, and by number of establishments operated.

Summary lines for establishments or firms with no employees refer to only those employers who did not have paid employees as of March 12, 1997. The separate Nonemployer Statistics summarized data about the large numbers of firms with no paid employees at any time during the year.
