American FactFinder displays the results of a census or survey in the following table and map formats (not all formats are available for all programs).
Table formats available for the Decennial and Population Estimates programs:
Quick Tables - Predefined tables with frequently requested information for a single geographic area.
Demographic Profiles are Quick Tables that contain the most frequently requested demographic, social, economic, and housing data. For Census 2000, there are four profiles covering general, social, economic, and housing characteristics. Quick access to the Census 2000 profiles is available from the Fact Sheet.
Geographic Comparison Tables - Tables containing a small number of population or housing characteristics for a group of related geographic areas (e.g., all counties in a state or all census tracts in a county).
Detailed Tables - Tables from data sets (also called summary files) that provide the most detailed data on all topics and geographic areas from the decennial censuses. All Quick Tables, Geographic Comparison Tables, and Thematic Maps from Census 2000 are sourced from the Detailed Tables.
Table formats available for American Community Survey (ACS) data:
Data Profiles and Subject Tables are available from the American Community Survey. Data Profiles and Subject Tables are available for the U.S., the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and other selected geographic areas with a population of 65,000 or more for one-year estimates and 20,000 or more for three-year estimates.
Selected Population Profiles are available from the American Community Survey. These tables are available for over 100 race, ethnic, ancestry, or country of birth groups. Tables for 2007 and later are available for geographic areas that have a total population greater than 500,000 provided that the group has a population of at least 65,000 in the selected area for the one-year estimates and at least 20,000 for the three-year estimates. Tables prior to 2007 are available for geographic areas that have a total population greater than 1,000,000.
Comparison Profiles are available from the American Community Survey for one-year estimates beginning in 2007. These tables are available for the U.S., the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and geographic areas with a population of more than 65,000.
Ranking Tables - Tables of American Community Survey data ranking a single characteristic for all states from the ACS one-year estimates.
Detailed Tables - Tables from data sets (also called summary files) that provide the most detailed data on all topics and geographic areas from the American Community Survey.
Table formats available for Economic Censuses and Surveys:
Geography Quick Reports - Data for these reports are collected by the Economic Census. The report displays data for all industries for the selected geographic area.
Industry Quick Reports - Data for these reports are collected by the Economic Census. The reports display industry statistics for the United States by state.
Product Quick Reports - Reports displaying Economic Data for all industries associated with a product, or all products associated with an industry. Product Quick Reports display data for the U.S. or the U.S. by state.
Economic Data Sets - Detailed statistics from the 1997 and 2002 Economic Census and other Economic surveys.
Table formats available for Annual Economic Surveys:
Geography Quick Reports - Data for these reports are from County Business Patterns. The report displays data for all industries for the selected geographic area.
Industry Quick Reports - Data for these reports are from County Business Patterns. The reports display industry statistics for the United States by state.
Detailed Statistics - Detailed data from the Annual Survey of Manufactures, County Business Patterns, ZIP Code Business Patterns, and Nonemployer Statistics.
Table formats vary depending on the data set you've selected, but the way you select geographic areas and subjects are similar for all types of FactFinder tables.
