The
Administration for Children and Families (ACF) is a federal
agency funding state, territory, local, and tribal organizations
to provide family assistance (welfare), child support, child
care, Head Start, child welfare, and other programs relating
to children and families.
Actual services are provided by state, county, city
and tribal governments, and public and private local agencies.
ACF assists these organizations through funding, policy direction,
and information services.
The National Commission on Children and Disasters (NCCD) was established by an act of Congress to assess the needs of children in relation to preparation, response and recovery from all emergencies, hazards and disasters. The commission will work to ensure the government and nonprofit and private sectors work more effectively and efficiently to make sure children are not forgotten during our most difficult times.
