Architect/Engineering (A/E) Procurement Current Contract Holders This section provides consultants with information on current contract holders with Central Federal Lands Highway Division (CFLHD). Full Service A/E Contracts: These Contracts may require any of the following services: Highway design; Bridge and other Structural design activities; Surveying and Mapping services; Preparation of right-of-way plans; Hydraulic and Hydrologic engineering; Geotechnical; Environmental compliance; Transportation planning.
Full Service A/E Contracts - Hawaii & Pacific Territories: These Contracts may require any of the following services: Highway design; Bridge and other Structural design activities; Surveying and Mapping services; Preparation of right-of-way plans; Hydraulic and Hydrologic engineering; Geotechnical; Environmental compliance; Transportation planning.
Survey and Mapping Contracts: The work may principally be for preliminary route surveys needed in support of the engineering, design, and development of future construction projects. The work may consist of control traverse; topographic; planimetric; hydrological; cadastral; subsurface utility research; as well as mapping for survey and right-of-way activities; and the development of right-of-way and utility plans, descriptions, and agreements.
Geotechnical Contracts: The work will principally be for geotechnical engineering services needed in support of the engineering design and development of future highway construction improvements. The work may generally consist of the following types of services: Project site and site history reviews and geologic reconnaissance; Site characterization/field exploration, including geologic mapping, subsurface exploration, preparation of boring logs, determination of soil and rock classifications, and the determination of groundwater information; Plan and develop exploration requirements including boring and sampling needs, equipment requirements, and manage field activities; Perform field and laboratory testing of soil and rock samples; Geotechnical engineering analysis in determining critical design elements and provide the basis for geotechnical design recommendations, Develop site specific design recommendations, including appropriate alternatives; Develop instrumentation needs and recommendations, oversee the installation, data gathering and interpret the data to measure slope movement, rate of settlement and pore pressure; Present findings and recommendations of investigations and studies in the form of a formal report, being the basis for design documentation and a resource for the CFLHD's construction personnel during project construction.
Specialty Design Contracts: The work is principally for engineering and transportation planning services needed in support of future transportation improvements. The work generally consists of the following types of services: Development of alternative horizontal and vertical roadway alignments; transportation planning, including traffic studies, traffic analysis and modeling; landscape Architecture associated with visual landscape management, visual mitigation, and revegetation; right-of-way and utilities engineering including preparation of right-of-way and utilities plans and descriptions for the acquisition of right-of-way and coordination with landowners, state and county agencies, and utility companies; plans, specifications, and estimates for highway construction contracts.
Construction Inspection Contracts: Services are included under the general term of Construction Management and generally include all the duties associated with construction management, oversight, inspection, and other transportation related services.
