New report now available on self-care manuals
Self-care manuals have been widely disseminated in the United States to the general public, employee group populations, and health care organizations. It has been thought that these manuals could improve patient health, satisfaction, and loyalty to health care providers and plans and, at the same time, reduce use of services and lower costs. With funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a team at Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) recently completed a report that summarizes the available evidence on the effectiveness of self-care manuals. The report was produced with guidance from the AHRQ-funded Evidence-based Practice Center (EPC) at OHSU.
