New York Fugitive Captured in MiamiBureau of Diplomatic SecurityWashington, DC May 25, 2007 State Department Special Agents Help Capture Notorious New York Murder Suspect at Haitian Consulate Jacques Dorcinvil was arrested Thursday and is being held for a Miami court extradition hearing today related to his assault warrant from New York. He was on the run from authorities since he is alleged to have been the assailant in a murder and assault in Brooklyn, May 5 of this year. Miami Field Office Special Agents of the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) assisted the Miami Police Department in Dorcinvil’s apprehension with the permission of the Haitian Consulate in Miami. Edgar Moreno, Special Agent in Charge of the DS Miami Field Office said, “We are always glad to get a criminal off the streets. This arrest demonstrates the wide range of investigative activities of the U.S. State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS). In this case, based on the alert response and cooperation of the Haitian Consulate, DSS worked with the Miami Police Department to prevent Dorcinvil’s escape.” The Bureau of Diplomatic Security is the U.S. Department of State’s law enforcement and security arm. The special agents, engineers, and security professionals of the Bureau are responsible for the security of 285 U.S. diplomatic missions around the world.
