To whom it make concern.
My name is Terry Hall. I am a visually impaired New York City resident living at
[ ... ]. I am writing because I strongly disagree with the proposal being
suggested about traffic lights. It is hard for me to understand how a totally
sighted person can say what he/she thinks will help a blind person, especially
when they have never dealt with one before. The idea that a buzzer at every
traffic light will help a blind person is probably the dumbest thing I've ever
herd. We as blind individuals learn how to cross streets by listening to our
parallel traffic and NOT on the traffic light itself. If a blind person has
never been thought the proper way to cross a street, this beeper in a traffic
light won't help him/her. Also, you must remember that many traffic lights are
in residential areas and neighbors will complain about the noise of this devise
at all ours of the night. If you want to help blind individuals, speak with them
first before make assumptions. Thank you.
