I work in Boston and have to cross Congress Street twice every day that I work.
I have worked in this location for over 10 years and still feel anxiety every
time I have to make this crossing. I am usually forced to wait until someone
comes along and offers help. I have some usable vision which often enables me to
find where to cross, but, doesn't tell me when it is safe to cross. The
locations where I encounter audible signals are much more comfortable.
As a blind person, I would say that my travel skills are probably above average
and i manage to get to where ever I need to go. However, to do this safely, it
is essential that I have accessible pedestrian signals and detectable warnings.
Thank you for your efforts.
